Well hello, dear friends!
I know I have been MIA since July on the blog here, but believe me, I have not been slacking in my life! The past few months have been busy with attending baby showers, knitting blankets and booties, and crocheting bibs...altho I made sure to throw in some papercrafting too! The next big event in our family was to be the coming of Connor Murphy Ooms, expected to arrive in November, so of course, we planned to have a shower for Lisa in October. I have been busy crafting goodies and gifties and banners for the shower, which is scheduled for October 20th...however, on Tuesday, October 9, at 7:42 p.m. Connor decided to make his entrance to this world weighing in at 6 pounds 6 ounces and 18 inches - 5 weeks early! You can imagine the scrambling we have been doing to get things ready for him...his parents thought they had lots of time still! (Silly, first-time parents!!)
Connor is doing great - he is such a sweet boy - very healthy, but having just a bit of trouble keeping down his formula, so he is spending a few more days in the NICU. Lisa is doing very well, but was a bit sad at having to leave him there when she was released on Thursday. But we are all very thrilled to have this adorable boy joining the family! I'll post pictures very soon, and hopefully, Connor will be attending his first party on October 20th!
Hugs,
Lynda

July 2012 Papertrey Blog Hop
Hello!
I have finally returned to work after a wonderful 3 weeks off, so just a quick post to play in the Papertrey Blog Hop! Here is the challenge:
{photo credit}
This month's inspiration is all about pairing up beautiful summer colors as this wonderful season begins to come to a close. Put together some citrusy hues along with some pretty floral images to create the perfect project that embodies everything summer. We look forward to seeing your creations!
And here is my take:
My new order arrived yesterday, so I had a chance to play with the new set, Life is Sweet. I used the colors as listed in the challenge, and only did two of the three layers - I stamped off once for the first layer, and then used the same color full strength for the highlight layer. The tiny filler flower is from Natural Beauties (from Stamp-a-faire). The vellum layer is die cut with Lacy Squares nestie, and stamped with Staz-on ink. The primrose seam binding bow is from Ribbon Carousel, and topped with a melon berry button.
Thanks for looking!
Hugs,
Lynda

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge #122 Elegance and Lace
Hello again!
I struggle to find time to post when I am working, but this vacation-at-home stuff is fabulous...two posts in one day...Go me!
This post is dedicated to The Shabby Tea Room Challenge #122, for which I have made two cards (VACATION is the key here!) The first is the one linked to the challenge:
This next card covers all the bases, except for kraft...I just couldn't resist putting the front piece on a pink card base with a black mat. There is lots of pink, lace, and white, however, so I included it in this posting.
Well there you have it! If you have a chance, try your hand at this challenge too!
Signing off now,
Lynda

Hexagon Challenge - Moxie Fab World
Hello Blog Friends!
This being on vacation at home for three weeks is fabulous, I have to say!!
Since I have more time, I was able to create a project for the Hooked on Hexagons Challenge in the Moxie Fab World - and it was so much fun, there are two cards here for you enjoyment! Look:
This first card uses hexagons and washi tape, along with pretty patterned paper from the "Random" 6 x 6 pad from Crate Paper...look MA, no stamping! The buttons are tied with floss. This one just screams "bright and sunny!" to me.
Next up is a card made entirely with PTI materials. The hexagons are cut with the new Cover Plate: Hexagons die, and then stamped with PTI ink and the new Happy Hexagons stamp set. The label is die-cut with the Fillable Frames #10 die, and stamped with the matching frame image, and the sentiment is from Happy Hexagons, accented with crystals.
Now it is your turn to play too! Here is the link to the challenge in the Moxie Fab World...let's see what you can come up with!
I'm off to play in another challenge...(I have got to quit my job...just kidding!)
Hugs,
Lynda

Hello Friends,
Today is a special day...not only a triple birthday in my family, but it is also the June 2012 Papertrey Blog Hop! Woo Hoo! Here is a look at the picture we had as our inspiration:
This month's inspiration is a fun take on florals, ruffles & pleats...........

This month's inspiration is a fun take on florals, ruffles & pleats...........
and here is my take, which includes a little something from each of the items pictured:
I used PTI Lemon Tart as the base card, Aqua Mist background stamped with New Leaf ink, using the Harvest Berries stamp set. The sentiment is from Heart 2 Heart #4. The flower is made from Aqua Mist card stock, punched, run through the crimper, and then crumpled, with a rolled mini rose made of Aqua Mist felt as its center. This was so fun and easy to make!
Thanks for stopping by - I love it when you visit!

The Wedding!
Well, the day arrived on Saturday, June 2nd! It has taken a week to recover from all of the fun and excitement! Here are are few of the sneek peek pics we got from our talented and creative photographer, Angela Stanton of Stanton Photo Studios:
Lisa's three sisters, (left to right) Christie, Sara, and Stephanie, helping her get into her dress
Lisa's niece Phoenix and little friend Violet looking on
Sister Christie and niece Casey helping as Lisa gets ready to walk
A little fun with the bridesmaids and that big veil!
And here are a few pictures from some of the guests:
Here they are: Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Ooms!
Grandma Nancy, Mom Lynda, and Dad Sam
And a toast to the new couple from Dad
We had the best day, EVER! All of the kids were there, and it was the most fun, relaxed party...all of the days and work leading up to this special day were absolutely worth it! Much love to Lisa and Kenny...we gained a wonderful son-in-law, and a fun family on his side, as well as a day of happiness and laughter spent with our friends and family. And that is the milestone little thing that gave our lives such joy on June 2, 2012!

Berry Good Friends
Happy Sunday, blog friends!
With the wedding only weeks away, time is tight to get a word in...but today, I want to share a card that is going to some good friends of ours that we got to spend the day with on Saturday.

This is made with PTI's Strawberry Patch and Strawberry Patch Sentiments, along with a couple of Tiny Tags thrown in. Just love how easily this card came together...some Lilybee Double Dutch paper and Cherry Cobler seam binding ribbon from SU, and there it is!
Well, Sam's calling me to dinner, so we'll talk again soon!

A Couple of Cards for You...
Hello again,
It is getting to be the end of the semester, and lots of activities to keep up with, so not much blogging time lately! Sorry for the delay! As I mentioned before, my son is graduating on May 24, so I thought a card of congratulations was in order:
I used Papertrey Ink stamps for the scene, and Stampin' Up! for the sentiment. I hand-drew the mortar board, cut it out, popped it up on a pop dot, and added twine as a tassle. The balloons are made from the Tiny Tags sets, and popped up as well.
Next up, I recently went to the birthday dinner of an old, dear friend...hmmmm, that doesn't sound right does it?! Anyway, we have known each other since high school, and I am NOT going to tell you how long ago THAT was ;-)
This is the card I gave her - with a Starbuck's gift card tucked inside, yum! I used PTI stamps on this one as well, with digital paper from iralamijashop, and crinkle ribbon from Memriemare. Love those Etsy shops!!
Well, it has been a very busy weekend, and I need a little stamp time, so I will get busy, 'cause that is one of the little things that makes me smile!
Hugs,
Lynda

DIY Embellishments Challenge in the Moxie Fab World
Hi Friends,
Hope you all had a blessed Easter yesterday...mine was spent with family and lots of yummy food and fun. After dinner, all the ladies got to visit, and all the guys were napping in their chairs...sounded like my new son-in-law won for loudest snorer!! ;-)
Well, we can't have a post without pictures...sooooo, here are few taken on a less-than-sunny day. I thought it might be fun to try my hand at making my own embellishments for the DIY Embellishments Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. First, I made my own patterned paper using PTI stamps and ink.
this sat on my desk for a while, until one day, I got the idea to try my hand at a Gluber flower - oh, and I had these butterflies cut from PTI felt...and new washi tape showed up on my door step...
and this started to take shape! Of course I could not just put a big, yellow flower on here, all naked, so I added pins, felt flower, washi-covered butterfly, and baker's twine. All in all, a very bright, busy little thing!
The colors are prettier in real life...so it will be staying on my desk, making me happy, and reminding me to "enjoy the little things!" Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to visit the Moxie Fab World!
Hugs,
Lynda

Happy Sunday!
Hello Friends,
It is a beautiful, sunny day in SoCal today, and I thought I would show you some of the gorgeous poppies that are growing in my yard - check it:
I love the bright color of these, and especially how big they are this year! My hubby gets all the credit for keeping our yard full of flowers for me!
I also put together a couple of cute bird houses that I found at Michael's - covered them with pretty paper and voila! Easter gifts for Mom for next Sunday's dinner:
The single story blue house is covered with Memory Box "Minuet" paper, and the cute little felt birdy is from the bargin bins at Michael's. The two-story pink house is covered with Crafty Secrets "Radiant" paper, and green ribbon at the base. Such a fun project!
Well, better get busy if I am going to have a bit of craft time today...blessings on your day too!
Hugs, Lynda

Papertrey March Blog Hop Challenge
Happy Sunday, everyone!
Today is the Papertrey Ink blog hop challenge, based on this inspiration piece:
I have been wanting to make a vintage style card, ala Melissa Phillips, so this is what I came up with (forgive the photo-overcast, rainy in SoCal today):
here is another one:
Wow, what a difference the weather makes! The colors of this are not as pretty as in real life. Oh well, just imagine PTI aqua mist card stock, and October Afternoon Modern Homemaker yellow paper coated with gesso...much closer to the beautiful, bright colors in the inspirational piece. Thanks for stopping by!
Lynda
Supplies:
Paper: PTI Aqua Mist, October Afternoon Modern Homemaker
Ink: Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Stamps: PTI Tiny Tags
Details: Aqua Mist felt, PTI and MFT dies, Maya Road rose and pins, SU button, image from Iralamijashop, seam binding from MemrieMare.

Going to be a little busy this spring...
Happy Friday, Everyone!
Let's see, where do I begin...I told you all last time that we are going to be grandparents in November, but let me back up to the beginning!
We were planning a lovely family wedding for my daughter and son-in-law for June 2, 2012...but of course, they eloped on November 6, 2011! It was going to stay a secret, because everyone is SO EXCITED to get together in June...they are coming from as far away as PA and GA...but of course, they were too excited to keep quiet. (Oh yes, and now there is the new baby coming in November, 2012!) Sooo, we are still going ahead with the bash we had planned for June 2!! Since I was making the invitations, the wording is now an "exchange of vows" and we are proceeding as planned. Here is a picture of the finished invitations:
and a glimpse of all the pieces as I hand-addressed them all:
I put these in the mail on Tuesday this week, and today (Friday) I have already received three of the response postcards! It is going to be a fabulous start to our summer this year - I can't wait! Now, what am I going to wear??
More later...

Hello Sweet Friends,
A few weeks ago I shared a picture of the blanket that I knitted for my future little grand-niece, Sophia. And now, I want to share another picture of the blanket...but with little Sophia Loren Bassett inside!!! Squeeel!
Isn't she a sweetheart? All wrapped up in her "heart" blankie...on Valentine's Day! Love! And here is part of the message I received from her Mommy:

Sharing a Little Love...
Hello Friends,
I am still trying to find blogging time in my day...and it is February already!! I have been busy with a few other projects, one of them being a few knit or crochet goodies for my new little niece that will be appearing any day now! I wanted to get the blanket, booties, and bibs that I made for little "Sophia" in the mail quickly, so I did not get a picture of them to share with you. But thanks to mommy-to-be Sami, I got the following picture from her on Facebook this morning:
The blanket and booties are made of a soft yellow yarn. The blanket is knit, and the booties are crochet. The two bibs are made of a cotton yarn and are crochet. Not paper crafts, but I did use Papertrey Ink buttons on the bibs and booties! :-)
Well, that is all for today...a little thing that makes my heart happy!
Hugs, Lynda
